A Labrador from West Norfolk has been hailed as the UK’s bravest dog after triumphing over cancer three times and enduring a series of other severe illnesses. George, an 11-year-old Lab, first battled lymphoma cancer in his lungs, internal organs, and skin almost four years ago. At that time, veterinary experts at Linnaeus-owned DWR Veterinary Specialists in Cambridgeshire diagnosed him and began treatment. Since then, George has overcome two additional bouts of cancer, having tumors removed from his hind paw and ear canal. Despite his cancer battles, George has also faced skin diseases, ear canal inflammation, impaired hearing, poor vision due to bilateral cataracts, and a biliary tract infection. Recently, he battled a severe urinary infection complicated by pneumonia, requiring intensive treatment. George’s owner, Claudia Thoma, expressed her gratitude for every day she can spend with her resilient companion. Charlie Pittaway, head of oncology at DWR Veterinary Specialists, praised George’s bravery and described him as a laid-back and friendly dog. Their goal is to ensure that George enjoys a happy, pain-free life. This remarkable story showcases George’s unwavering spirit and serves as an inspiration for pet owners worldwide.
