The Guinness Book of World Records has recognized the special Yoga session led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the UN headquarters’ lawn. The session marked the 9th edition of the International Day of Yoga and garnered the most nationalities performing Yoga together, beating the previous record. Indian Home Minister Amit Shah praised PM Modi for promoting Yoga on a global platform and reclaiming India’s glory. The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated every year since 2015, after PM Modi’s proposal to dedicate a day to celebrate the ancient Indian fitness routine was accepted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. PM Modi has described Yoga as an adaptable, portable, universal and ancient tradition originating from India.
