Cricket stars from around the world have expressed their love for yoga on International Yoga Day. Many players, including former Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Pragyan Ojha, and Virender Sehwag took to social media to share images and videos of themselves practicing yoga.
Sachin Tendulkar tweeted pictures of himself practicing yoga, commenting that yoga helps increase the teamwork between the body and mind. Gautam Gambhir shared pictures on Twitter with a message that yoga not only boosts the body but enriches the mind and soul, while Suresh Raina shared a video of him practicing with his trainer on Instagram.
Shikhar Dhawan also took to Instagram stories to explain that yoga is the art of uniting body, mind, and spirit. Virender Sehwag posted a video of himself performing Shirshasana, while Pragyan Ojha shared a picture of himself in Vrikshasana.
International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide on June 21 every year. The event serves as a platform to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga and promote its holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
The concept of International Yoga Day was introduced by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 2014 address to the United Nations General Assembly. Since then, yoga has gained huge popularity worldwide due to its ability to enhance flexibility, strength, balance, and overall fitness.
This year, the theme of Yoga Day is ‘Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ which means Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of ‘One World-One Family.’ This emphasizes the spirit of Yoga, which unites and takes everyone along.
