Goa Police Arrests 21-Year-Old Man from Mumbai in Connection with Abduction of Minor Girl
Goa Police have apprehended a 21-year-old man, identified as Akshay Manohar Tayde, from Mumbai for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl who resided in a hostel. The accused, hailing from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the hostel’s warden. According to the complaint, the 14-year-old girl had gone shopping in Mapusa market but had not returned.
The incident led to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) at the Mapusa police station under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act. Subsequently, on the instructions of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jivba Dalvi, teams were formed to gather intelligence on the whereabouts of the accused.
Based on a thorough investigation, the accused was discovered to be on the move along with the missing minor girl. In an effort to apprehend them, SDPO Dalvi contacted his counterparts in the Mumbai Police. Further investigation led to the deployment of staff in Navpada, Mumbai, which ultimately resulted in the successful trace and rescue of the victim and arrest of the accused. They were later brought back to Mapusa.
Following his arrest, Akshay Manohar Tayde was remanded into police custody. The investigation is currently ongoing, with further details yet to be revealed.
