A man was shot by San Antonio SWAT officers after firing multiple rounds inside and outside a far West Side apartment early Tuesday morning, according to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus. The incident occurred at an apartment complex on Timbercreek Drive around 2 a.m.
McManus revealed that the 43-year-old man, who has a history of mental illness and military experience, was shooting rounds of gunfire into the walls of his apartment and outside the building. When officers arrived at the scene, they were immediately met with gunfire. As a result, a SWAT presence was called in, and the building was cleared by officers, including a Street Crimes Unit.
The SWAT team returned fire with the man at around 3:30 a.m., grazing him in the head and ultimately neutralizing him. Remarkably, the man was still able to walk out and was subsequently taken to a local hospital. Fortunately, no one else was injured during the incident.
