Congress President Kharge Criticizes BJP Government in Gujarat for Minimum Governance, Maximum Fakery

New Delhi, January 9 – Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Gujarat during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state. Kharge accused the BJP of promoting a fakery epidemic and claimed that there is a lack of governance and an abundance of deceit under their rule.

In a post on social media platform X, the Congress President highlighted several cases of alleged fraud that have recently taken place in Gujarat. He called on the Prime Minister, who hails from the state, to take a closer look at what he termed the BJP’s Fake Gujarat Model.

Kharge listed ten instances of what he referred to as fakery thriving in Gujarat and questioned whether the BJP government turned a blind eye to them.

Among the cases mentioned by Kharge were a fake officer from the Prime Minister’s office, a fake toll plaza, and several instances of individuals impersonating government officials. He also brought up a fake cough syrup scandal, a fake visa scam, a fake football betting app scam, and a fake scientist who falsely claimed credit for Chandrayaan-3. Furthermore, he cited a shocking statistic that 98 percent of the fake Rs 2000 currency notes seized in the country were found in Gujarat.

Alongside his post, Kharge shared photos and posters relating to these cases of alleged fakery.

Kharge’s examples included the case of Kiran Bhai Patel, who posed as an officer of the Prime Minister’s Office and betrayed the Army while traveling with Z-plus security in sensitive areas such as near the Line of Control. He also mentioned Viraj Patel, who claimed to be an officer of the Chief Minister’s Office and the Chairman of the Gujarat International Finance Tech-City (GIFT City), and managed to escape from police custody, only to be apprehended recently at the Assam-Mizoram border.

The Congress President also pointed out the existence of fake toll plazas that collected large sums of money from unsuspecting commuters. One of these fake toll plazas reportedly amassed over Rs 75 crore in revenue over the course of a year.

Kharge additionally highlighted the prevalence of counterfeit Rs 2000 currency notes in Gujarat, stating that the state accounted for 98 percent of the total national seizure of such fake notes, according to the National Crime Records Bureau’s 2022 report.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a three-day visit to Gujarat, during which he is set to inaugurate the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to hold meetings with CEOs of top global corporations.

The allegations made by Kharge against the BJP government in Gujarat raise significant concerns and underscore the need for a thorough investigation into the alleged instances of fakery. As the Prime Minister visits the state, the public will be keen to see if these claims are addressed and if any action is taken to ensure good governance and eradicate fraudulent practices.

The BJP government has yet to respond to the allegations made by Kharge. However, it is expected that they will defend their record and address the concerns raised by the Congress President in due course.
