Seeing Machines Launches New Driver Monitoring System, Compliant with New EU Rules
Seeing Machines Ltd announced today the launch of its latest driver monitoring system, Guardian Generation 3. The unveiling took place at the CES 2024 exhibition in Las Vegas. The company highlighted that Guardian Generation 3 has been rigorously tested and meets the new European drowsiness detection regulations, which will come into effect this summer. These regulations mandate the inclusion of drowsiness and attention warning systems in all new cars, vans, trucks, and buses from 6 July.
Visitors to the Seeing Machines CES 2024 private suite will have the opportunity to witness the advancements in the enhanced driver monitoring system’s optics and algorithms. The improved version boasts enhanced capabilities to detect microsleep and track eye-gaze accurately, allowing for the recognition of distracted driving. Independent tests have confirmed that the technology fully complies with the European Commission’s regulations.
Moreover, Seeing Machines emphasized that its Guardian technology provides manufacturers of commercial vehicles with compliance certainty. The technology can be easily implemented in their own factories or added post-production, enabling the sale of fully compliant vehicles.
Paul McGlone, CEO of Seeing Machines, expressed, Regulation continues to drive demand for all of our DMS technology. He also emphasized the importance of a reliable solution that activates only when necessary to ensure driver adoption and enhance road safety.
Regarding the commercial vehicle market, McGlone highlighted the significance of providing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with aftermarket or factory-fit solutions, as it is critical to their ability to sell compliant vehicles. Despite the lower annual volume of production in comparison to cars, Seeing Machines is confident in its profitability servicing this market segment.
The launch of Guardian Generation 3 aligns with Seeing Machines’ commitment to safety and compliance, ensuring that drivers remain alert and attentive on the roads. With the implementation of the new EU regulations and the continuous advancements in their driver monitoring systems, Seeing Machines aims to contribute to the improvement of road safety standards worldwide.
