Mumbai Crime: Cops Bust Fake Job Racket That Cheated Over 100 People To The Tune Of ₹1 Crore; 2 Arrested

Two members of a fake job racket that has been swindling innocent individuals since 2016 have finally been apprehended by the Mumbai police. This criminal syndicate managed to defraud more than a hundred people, amassing a staggering sum of ₹1 crore. The culprits, identified as Shahid Hussain Mohammad Hussain Shaikh, 39, and Mohammad Nazim Mohammad Shabbir Manihar, 45, were residents of Jogeshwari and Malad, respectively.

The breakthrough in the case came after the Crime Branch Unit 8 acted upon an FIR registered at the Azad Maidan police station and initiated a thorough investigation, led by Inspector Laxmikant Salunkhe. The authorities managed to recover a cache of fake documents, including visas, appointment letters, and medical reports, from the arrested duo.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Raj Tilak Roshan shed light on the modus operandi employed by this criminal duo. Their strategy involved strategically distributing pamphlets near railway stations and bus stops, enticing unsuspecting victims with promises of lucrative foreign jobs in countries like Kuwait and Singapore. However, their fraudulent operation had a predetermined timeline of 45 days. Once they had duped at least 60 people, the perpetrators would abruptly shut down their office and vanish, leaving their victims in a state of distress. To further deceive their targets, the conmen would even conduct false medical check-ups, sending the victims fabricated medical certificates and visas via WhatsApp. In the initial stages, they would extract sums ranging from ₹5,000-₹10,000 under the guise of medical examinations, ultimately swindling an additional ₹80,000 during the visa processing stage.

It is worth noting that the first case against this fraudulent duo was registered at the Bhandup police station back in 2016. Since then, they have managed to evade the clutches of the law, continuing their deceitful activities until their recent arrest.

This news serves as a reminder to exercise caution and due diligence when faced with seemingly lucrative job offers. Many innocent individuals fell victim to this elaborate sham, making it crucial for job seekers to thoroughly research and verify employment opportunities to avoid falling prey to similar scams.

The Mumbai police’s diligent efforts in apprehending these criminals have provided some solace to the victims. The recovery of fake documents also serves as crucial evidence against the accused duo, strengthening the case against them.

As investigations continue, the authorities are urging anyone who may have been a victim of this fake job racket to come forward and provide their testimonies. The Mumbai police are determined to bring justice to all those affected by this heartless fraud.

The arrest of these two individuals stands as a testament to the constant vigilance and perseverance of law enforcement agencies in their mission to ensure the safety and security of Mumbai’s residents. It serves as a warning to potential scammers that their fraudulent activities will not be tolerated, and swift action will be taken to bring them to justice.

The policemen involved in this operation should be commended for their dedication and commitment to upholding the law. Their relentless pursuit of justice has helped put an end to this criminal enterprise and given hope to those who fell victim to their deceitful practices.

Moving forward, it is imperative for individuals to exercise caution and report any suspicious job offers or fraudulent activities to the authorities promptly. By fostering a community of awareness and vigilance, Mumbai can work together to protect its residents and create a safer environment for all.
