Madhya Pradesh Congress holds political affairs committee meeting for upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Bhopal
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], January 8 – Madhya Pradesh Congress convened a meeting of the State Election Committee and Political Affairs Committee today to discuss preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The meeting was held at the state Congress office in Bhopal and saw the presence of key leaders including MP Congress Chief Jitu Patwari, AICC in charge of the state Jitendra Singh, former CM Kamal Nath, Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, and other prominent figures.
The discussions during the meeting revolved around formulating effective strategies for the forthcoming 2024 general elections. Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, stating, During the meeting, a complete planning was done about upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Everyone expressed their views and everyone had their contributions. There is no disappointment anywhere in the Party, everyone is in great enthusiasm and it is also necessary. We talked about many topics in which it was discussed what will be the procedure for the upcoming elections.
Additionally, the issue of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was addressed during the meeting. Kamal Nath confirmed that EVMs were discussed, but any final decision on the matter would be made in Delhi.
After the unexpected defeat in the recently concluded state assembly polls, the Congress party underwent a change in its party president for the state. Since then, the Madhya Pradesh Congress has been consistently holding meetings to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In the 2023 assembly elections, Madhya Pradesh witnessed a single-phase poll for 230 assembly seats on November 17, 2023, with the vote count taking place on December 3, 2023. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victory by winning 163 seats, while the Congress party managed to secure only 66 seats. The Bharatiya Adivasi Party won one seat.
