Former US Vice-President Mike Pence Denounces Trump’s Claim FBI Orchestrated Jan 6 Riots on US Capitol

Washington, Jan 7 – Former US Vice-President Mike Pence has publicly discredited the debunked conspiracy theory propagated by Former President Donald Trump, alleging that the FBI instigated the attack on the US Capitol that occurred on January 6, 2021.

In an interview with CNN, Pence expressed his outrage at the violent events that transpired, stating, To see people literally breaking windows, ransacking the Capitol, it just infuriated me. I remember thinking ‘not this, not here, not at the US Capitol.’

Pence wholeheartedly rejected the notion that the FBI had any involvement in the assault. He emphasized that he had received assurances multiple times that this theory held no credibility. Rather, he expressed gratitude towards the FBI for their endeavors in bringing those responsible for the attack to justice. He demanded that all individuals who participated in the violent acts be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

The attack should never have happened. As I’ve said many times before, the former President’s words that day were reckless. I believe history will judge his role in that, Pence stated, condemning Trump’s role in inciting the violence.

A recent Washington Post survey revealed that one-third of Republicans believe in the conspiracy theory that the FBI orchestrated the January 6 attack. This claim was given a voice once again by Donald Trump just a few days ago.

In response, Pence urged people to consider the facts and be aware of the real situation, rather than falling prey to falsehoods. He pointed out the tremendous hardships endured by Capitol Hill Police and the harm suffered by them during the attack as evidence.

Turning his attention to internal party matters, Pence discussed the upcoming Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire primary, which he believed offered Republicans an opportunity for a fresh start and new leadership to guide the party both during the election and beyond. Pence, who had been a contender for the presidency in 2024, withdrew from the race midway through his campaign.

During the Capitol attack, Pence was swiftly evacuated from the Senate chamber as rioters, calling for his demise, rampaged through the halls of Congress. Trump, remaining at the White House, watched the insurrection unfold. In an unsuccessful attempt to retain his presidency and prevent Joe Biden from assuming office, Trump had invoked the 25th amendment of the US Constitution to pressure Pence into de-certifying the 2020 presidential election results.

Following the attack, neither Trump nor Pence engaged in communication for several days. Since then, they have taken separate paths, including on Inauguration Day when Pence remained in Washington to attend Biden’s swearing-in ceremony while Trump departed for his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida before the ceremony commenced.

In conclusion, Pence’s condemnation of the FBI conspiracy theory serves as a stern rebuke against Trump’s unfounded claims. As the country continues to grapple with the aftermath of the Capitol attack, Pence’s words highlight the need for unity, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to the truth.
