The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has made a woman Pakistani agent a co-accused in the case against a DRDO scientist, Pradeep Kurulkar, who was arrested in May for allegedly leaking confidential information to the agent. The woman, who operated under the name of Zara Dasgupta, apparently honey-trapped Kurulkar and communicated with him through WhatsApp and video calls. The ATS added the agent’s name to the FIR after tracing her IP address to Pakistan. Kurulkar had allegedly travelled to several countries on a diplomatic passport, and the prosecution wants to know whom he met during those trips. The ATS has added Section 4 of the Official Secrets Act to the FIR, which deals with communications with foreign agents to be evidence of commission of certain offences.
