One injured in Fort Ann rollover crash
FORT ANN, N.Y. — A rollover crash that occurred in Fort Ann on January 4 is currently under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The incident took place on State Route 4 near Needhamville Lane.
Responding to reports of a single-vehicle rollover accident with entrapment, officers arrived at the scene on Thursday at 10:42 a.m. They found an 86-year-old man trapped inside a 2018 Volvo, requiring extrication.
After successfully removing the driver from the vehicle, emergency services transported him to a nearby landing zone where he was then transferred to a medical helicopter. The 86-year-old was later flown to Albany Medical Center due to severe injuries to the head and face.
Initial findings from the investigation revealed that the driver had been traveling north on State Route 4 when a witness observed erratic behavior, including swerving and speeding up. The vehicle ultimately left the roadway, fell into a culvert, and flipped over onto its roof.
A section of State Route 4 had to be closed temporarily as authorities cleared the road. The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
