The security arrangement for the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2024 has been divided into six zones in Gandhinagar. The zones include Mahatma Mandir, Exhibition Centre, GIFT City, Raj Bhavan, Road arrangement, and Morcha Squad. This division aims to ensure a smooth and comprehensive arrangement for the safety and security of attendees, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and dignitaries from around the world.
Virendrasinh Yadav, Range DIG of Gandhinagar, shared these details during a press conference ahead of the summit. The VGGS 2024 will commence on January 9 and conclude on January 12, with various programs organized at venues such as the Mahatma Mandir, Sector-17 Exhibition Center, and GIFT City in Gandhinagar.
To ensure the efficient management of security, authorities have deployed a substantial number of personnel within the six designated zones. This includes 1 Additional Director General of Police, 6 Inspector General of Police, 21 Superintendent of Police, 69 Deputy Superintendent of Police, 233 Police Inspectors, 391 Police Sub Inspectors, 5520 Police personnel, 100 Commandos, 21 Morcha Squad members, 8 Quick Response Teams, and 15 BDDS personnel. Moreover, 34 traffic cranes will be patrolling the city roads to prevent haphazard parking.
The preparations for the summit venues, including Mahatma Mandir, Sector-17 Exhibition Center, and GIFT City, have been meticulously planned. Drones were utilized for 3D mapping of the venues. The installation of essential CCTV cameras, other surveillance cameras, and parking zone cameras ensure comprehensive security coverage. Additionally, an RFID-based system will be established for dignitary entry and visitor vehicle parking.
Effective communication is vital during such events, and a dedicated frequency channel has been created for this purpose. Control rooms equipped with CCTV surveillance have been set up at each location, with a centralized command and control room. This facilitates coordination between the Ahmedabad city and Gandhinagar district police.
To regulate traffic during the summit, diversions have been implemented, and heavy vehicle movement restrictions have been put in place on certain roads. Alternative routes have been designated to minimize disruptions.
