BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital Launches Clean Hands Save Lives Initiative for 50,000 Children in Bengaluru Schools

BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital has partnered with Rotary Bengaluru Gnanakshi Club and Rotary District 3191 to launch its Clean Hands Save Lives campaign. The goal of this initiative is to combat the tendency of neglecting hand hygiene by creating awareness among children in Bengaluru schools.

As the pandemic subsides, hand hygiene seems to be declining in importance, and this campaign has set a goal to empower 50,000 children, 100,000 parents, and 10,000 teachers to implement regular hand cleaning and sanitization practices.

The launch event was attended by several notable guests, including Sri Sri Sri Dr Nirmalanandanatha MahaSwamiji, President of Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, and Biju Nair, Cluster COO of Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Bengaluru.

The Clean Hands Save Lives campaign seeks to instill six steps of handwash through a catchy jingle to encourage consistent hygiene practices amongst young children. The campaign aims to create lasting behavioral change, ensuring hand hygiene is prioritized beyond a pandemic.

The initiative will culminate in an Official Guinness World Record Attempt, scheduled for November 22, 2023, at Forum Mall, Kanakpura Road. The event is expected to bring together over 10,000 student representatives, 500 teacher representatives, and 1,000 parent representatives from enrolled schools, symbolizing a unified commitment to prioritizing hand hygiene and its crucial role in public health.

Biju Nair, Cluster COO, Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Bengaluru said, BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital is proud to lead this impactful campaign, aimed at empowering the children of Bengaluru to embrace the habit of hand hygiene. By instilling this habit in the young generation, we can create a lasting impact on public health.

Rotarian Ashwin Kumar SG, President of Rotary Bengaluru Gnanakshi Club and District 3191, and Member for Basic Education and Literacy Committee stated, Good handwash is the first step of defense against the spread of many infectious diseases. This initiative, ‘Clean Hands Save Lives,’ aims to create awareness among the children of different schools in Bangalore and have a positive impact on their health.

This campaign is a significant step towards promoting basic hygiene practices among young children, ensuring a healthier and cleaner tomorrow.
