Two more cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, bringing the total number of new cases detected in the last 40 days to 23. The new cases include a 32-year-old woman from Sukhliya and a 56-year-old man from Mhow. The woman had traveled to Tamil Nadu and returned to Indore on December 26. Both patients had mild fevers and decided to get tested. They are now under observation and in home isolation.
Dr. Anshul Mishra, the district epidemiologist, confirmed that two patients, a 79-year-old individual admitted to the hospital and another patient in home isolation, were discharged on Friday, bringing the total number of active cases to 10. All active cases are currently in home isolation and will undergo another round of testing after seven days. Samples from the patients have been sent for genome sequencing to AIIMS, Bhopal, to determine the strain of the virus present in the city.
In a separate incident, a woman in Indore fell victim to a conman who duped her of Rs 90,000 ($1,221) by promising to double her money. The woman, identified as Nimisha Bhawsar, received a call from the fraudster who lured her with the promise of quick returns on her investment. Trusting the caller, Bhawsar transferred the money in four installments. However, after receiving the full amount, the conman stopped responding to her calls. Bhawsar filed a complaint with the police, who have initiated an investigation and registered a case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. The police are trying to identify the conman based on his mobile number and have formed a team to apprehend him.
