Chandigarh (Punjab), January 5 (ANI): New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s repeated defiance of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons and his alleged attempts to subvert constitutional bodies have drawn sharp criticism from BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh. Chugh accused Kejriwal of creating anarchy and jeopardizing law and order for his own political gains.

Kejriwal, who ignored the third summons from the ED in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, claimed that he was being targeted by the BJP-led Centre through the misuse of institutions.

However, Chugh condemned Kejriwal’s actions and questioned why the chief minister was evading the ED if he had nothing to hide. The BJP leader urged Kejriwal to cooperate with the investigation and prove his innocence.

Emphasizing the zero-tolerance policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards corruption, Chugh called on Kejriwal to come clean and reveal the truth to the country.

The central agency had issued three summons to Kejriwal in the excise policy case, with the latest summons scheduled for January 3. The ongoing political conflict between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) escalated following the issuance of these summons.

Shehzad Poonawalla, a spokesperson for the BJP, accused Kejriwal of behaving like a fugitive and questioned his refusal to appear before the ED despite multiple summons.

Responding to the allegations, Kejriwal defended himself, stating that he would not bow down to the hooliganism and dictatorship of the BJP. He argued that the summons sent by the ED were illegal and accused the agency of false claims. Kejriwal reiterated his commitment to honesty and integrity.

The Delhi CM also raised concerns over the timing of the notice, suggesting that the BJP was attempting to impede his campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In summary, the ongoing political clash between Arvind Kejriwal and the ED has intensified, with BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh accusing the Delhi CM of subverting constitutional bodies. Kejriwal, in turn, claims he is being unjustly targeted by the BJP-led Centre. The controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s refusal to cooperate with the ED continues to escalate, with both parties engaging in a war of words.
