Bhat also claimed responsibility for a grenade attack on non-local labourers in Hermain, which resulted in the death of two labourers. He was further implicated in the killing of Kashmiri Pandits Sunil Kumar Bhat and the injuring of Pretimber Nath, both residents of Chotigam Shopian. Additionally, Bhat was involved in an attack on local Bal Krishan alias Sonu, a resident of Chotigam.
The police spokesperson stated that Bhat played a significant role in indoctrinating and recruiting local youth into the ranks of terrorists. He was responsible for enticing 12 young individuals to join terrorist organizations. Among his other crimes, Bhat was accountable for the killing of an arrested terrorist who was leading a search party during a cordon and search operation at Nowgam in 2022.
During the encounter, security forces recovered incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition, including an AK series rifle and three magazines from the encounter site.
