Businesses are now prioritizing AI-first operations, according to Gaurav Sharma, Vice President of IBM India Software Labs. Sharma spoke at AI Innovation Day, a conference hosted by IBM, and said that IBM is ready to assist clients in developing their businesses with the power of AI. Sharma also stated that he does not believe there will be a decrease in jobs as a result of AI, but rather a change in the types of roles available. The demand for prompt engineering, in particular, has increased. The engineer works to improve machine-generated outputs and is highly paid. According to a report by McKinsey, generative AI could boost various industries by the equivalent of $2.6 trillion to $4.4 trillion annually. The industries that could be most affected include banking, life sciences, and high tech. Sharma also discussed the need for regulation in AI, stating that government regulations would be necessary due to the use of publicly available and personal data. For example, personal data is used for consumer AI, whereas enterprise data is not shared, and therefore the regulations would differ. IBM showcased its latest AI innovation, watsonx.ai, which is a next-generation enterprise studio that offers extensive capabilities to train, validate, tune, and deploy machine learning and new generative AI models through an open and intuitive interface.
