SALEM Ore. – A suspect has turned themselves in after a fatal shooting took place outside a nightclub in Salem on New Year’s Day. The Salem Police Department announced that Julio Cesar Sanchez-Sanchez, 36, surrendered to officers at the Roseburg Police Department on Wednesday afternoon. The shooting resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man, identified as Ricardo Lopez-Cruz.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Monday, with police responding to reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound outside the La Leyenda nightclub on Portland Road Northeast. Tragically, upon arrival, officers found the victim deceased in the parking lot.
On Tuesday evening, authorities arrested Guadalupe Ortiz Cervantes, 34, from Woodburn, on charges of hindering prosecution. She is currently being held at the Marion County Jail.
Sanchez-Sanchez, who faces charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, was subsequently booked into the Douglas County Jail. Authorities stated that he will be transferred to the Marion County Jail in due course.
