A couple and their teenage daughter who were found dead in their home in Dover, Massachusetts last Thursday died as a result of a murder-suicide, according to authorities. The bodies of Rakesh Kamal, 57, Teena Kamal, 54, and Arianna Kamal, 18, were discovered in what the Dover Police Department described as a deadly incident of domestic violence. A firearm was found at the scene, and on Tuesday, it was confirmed that Rakesh had shot and killed his wife and daughter before turning the gun on himself.

Preliminary autopsy results revealed the causes of death for the Kamal family, shedding light on the tragic event. The gun used in the incident was determined to be a .40-caliber Glock 22, which was not registered to Rakesh and for which he did not possess a license. Authorities are currently conducting further tests on the gun as part of their ongoing investigation. The final autopsy report is expected to be released in a few weeks.

The devastating discovery was made by the police after a relative called them to check on the family. Responding to the call, officers arrived at the residence on Wilson’s Way at around 7:24 p.m. on Thursday, where they found the deceased family members. During a press conference, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey emphasized that the incident was limited to that specific dwelling and that there was no threat to the rest of the town.

The evidence found at the scene led investigators to conclude that the incident was indeed a case of domestic violence and did not involve any external parties. The DA’s office stated that there is no ongoing danger to the Dover community related to the incident.

Arianna Kamal, a recent graduate from Middlebury College, was remembered as a sweet, smart, kind young woman who was just beginning to realize her full potential by members of the college. Her mother, Teena, played a prominent role as the head of the institution’s parents association and was known as a dedicated advocate for both parents and students at Milton.

As authorities continue their investigation into this heartbreaking tragedy, our thoughts are with the loved ones of the Kamal family. It serves as a solemn reminder of the devastating impact that domestic violence can have on individuals and families. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please reach out to local resources for help and support.
