UK shop price inflation remained steady in December, reaching its lowest level since June 2022, according to the latest figures from the British Retail Consortium (BRC)-NielsenIQ Shop Price Index. Shop prices were 4.3% higher compared to the previous year, slightly below the three-month average rate of 4.6%. However, there was positive news for households as food inflation decreased for the eighth consecutive month, falling to 6.7% in December from 7.7% in November. This slowdown in food price growth is the lowest rate recorded since June 2022.
