A massive fire broke out on Tuesday night at a furniture godown near Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district headquarters, according to officials. The fire spread to a nearby nursing home building, which led to the evacuation of the patients. The affected area is in the Manjhanpur police station area on Karari Manjhanpur Road. Four-wheelers and two-wheelers standing nearby also caught fire due to the incident.
The Superintendent of Police, Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, confirmed that the fire has been brought under control and that three patients in the hospital were safely evacuated. However, he added that an investigation is underway to determine the exact reason for the fire.
The owner of the furniture shop, Mohammad Haseeb, stated that a spark arose from the electric wire late at night and caught directly onto the triple installed in the shop. He further added that the fire brigade did not reach the scene on time despite their calls. Haseeb said goods worth about Rs 1.5 crore have been destroyed in the incident.
Despite several fire engines being brought to the scene, the damage was severe. The district magistrate and Superintendent of Police also reached the site to inspect the rescue operation. The fire completely destroyed the furniture godown and cars parked nearby got burned.
It is essential to note that the exact cause of the fire is still unknown and being investigated by authorities.
