The International Yoga Day was celebrated in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, with the Governor and Chief Minister leading the events in different cities. UP Governor Anandiben Patel took charge of the Yoga Day celebrations in Lucknow, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the event in Gorakhpur.
While the Governor was compelled to move the event indoors at the Raj Bhawan due to unexpected rains, it did not dampen the spirits of the participants, which included bureaucrats, eminent citizens, and others. The Governor led the group in performing various yoga postures.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister led the celebrations in Gorakhpur, where hundreds of people also performed yoga. In his address, Adityanath emphasized the importance of making yoga a part of one’s daily life.
The International Yoga Day has been celebrated on June 21st since 2015, when the United Nations officially recognized it. The day aims to raise awareness about the many benefits of yoga, which has been practiced in India for thousands of years and has gained global popularity in recent times.
