Imphal (Manipur) [India], January 2 (ANI): Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh visited injured security personnel at RIMS hospital following a fresh incident of violence in Moreh, Tengnoupal district. The Chief Minister expressed concern over the involvement of mercenaries from Myanmar’s side and assured that the state government is working in coordination with the central government to address the situation.
We have been reported from many sources about the involvement of mercenaries from Myanmar’s side. Their involvement is highly plausible, said Manipur CM N. Biren Singh.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the operations to tackle the situation are being carried out jointly by the state security forces and the central government. He stated, We are in touch with the central government ministries. Whatever we are doing in Moreh and the entire state areas of Manipur is with the consent and approval of the central government.
Expressing solidarity with the victims and their families, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh said, My heartfelt thoughts are with the victims and their families in this challenging time. We’re committed to tackling those bent on destabilizing Manipur, ensuring justice for the victims with decisive actions against the responsible parties.
In addition, the Chief Minister also visited the injured civilians undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity. He condemned all forms of violence and assured that the state government has launched mass combing operations to apprehend the culprits, adding that no one is above the law.
Meanwhile, curfew has been re-imposed in Imphal West and Thoubal district on January 1. The Manipur Police conducted search operations and area domination in the vulnerable areas of Thoubal and Imphal East districts. Strict security measures were implemented, ensuring the movement of essential items along NH-37 and NH-2 with the help of security convoys.
A total of 140 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, with the police detaining 238 individuals in connection with violations across the state.
The Manipur government is actively addressing the situation and working towards restoring peace and stability in the region. The Chief Minister has assured that the responsible parties will be held accountable and justice will be served.
