Football enthusiasts in Herefordshire are in for a treat this weekend, as the Herefordshire FA’s SSAFA County Ground hosts a day-long festival of football. Marking Armed Forces Day, Wellington Vets, Hereford Pegasus, and Hereford Pegasus Ladies will compete against the Army Reserve men, women, and masters sides in what promises to be an exciting display of footballing prowess. The games kick-off at noon and will run through to 6 pm.
Aside from the football, a range of activities for families and food stalls, a bouncy castle, ice-cream, and a shooting range will be available. Entry is free, with donations to SSAFA Herefordshire optional.
Hereford Pegasus Ladies, who finished second in the Midwest Counties League behind champions Redditch Borough, have received confirmation of their promotion to Division One (South) of the West Midlands Regional League next season. The team, who have strengthened their side over the last six months, are looking forward to testing themselves at a higher level. The new division features fellow newcomers Alvechurch and Redditch Borough, as well as Bewdley Town, Droitwich Spa, Kingfisher, Knowle, Leamington Lions, Long Itchington, Rugby Town, Sedgley and Gornal United, and Worcester City Development.
Captain Emily Morgan said, We are pleased to be able to test ourselves at a higher level after missing out on promotion last year. We have strengthened the squad over the past six months and feel that the team is in a better position to meet the challenge.
Football lovers in Herefordshire will be able to enjoy these games, and all the fun and entertainment of the festive atmosphere that surrounds this event.
