Scores of people gathered at Ayodhya’s famous Lata Mangeshkar Chowk on Sunday to ring in the new year amid chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The iconic roundabout became a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to take selfies and photos. As the clock struck midnight, a diverse group of revelers cheered for the arrival of the new year and later began chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The Lata Mangeshkar Chowk, named after the legendary singer, attracted extra attention after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit during his roadshow. Security personnel were deployed in various locations across the temple town, including at the roundabout. Many of the attendees expressed their excitement for the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram temple on January 22. Neeraj Gupta, who came to Ayodhya with friends, stated, We have come to celebrate New Year at the holy birthplace of our revered Lord Ram, while Rekha Sengupta marked the occasion doubly by celebrating her birthday on December 31. The festivities continued with plans to visit Hanumangarhi, Kanak Bhawan, the newly-built airport, and the Saryu river for a holy dip and blessings. The atmosphere was vibrant as youngsters were seen capturing the moment in selfies near Naya Ghat, spreading the joyous spirit. The coming year holds great significance for Ayodhya as it prepares for the momentous ceremony at the Ram temple.
