In a heartwarming gesture, a 116 kg girl from Mhow underwent a free bariatric surgery at MY Hospital. The young woman was suffering from various physical and mental issues due to her obesity, which even made walking difficult for her. Thanks to cabinet minister Usha Thakur, who intervened and helped to get the required staplers worth Rs 1 lakh for the surgery.
The surgery, performed by Surgeon Dr Arvind Ghanghoriya and his team, turned out to be successful. Dr Ghanghoria mentioned that the patient would lose weight in six months, with her weight expected to come down to 60 kg.
MY Hospital is the only government hospital in the state that performs bariatric surgery, which started eight years ago. Until now, the hospital has done about 170 such surgeries.
The young girl was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, and it is essential for her to stay committed to her post-operative diet and exercise regime to ensure optimum results. At present, the patient has to bear the cost of staplers used during the operation, which can be quite expensive. However, in this case, the financial condition of the patient was weak, and Minister Thakur stepped forward to make the necessary arrangements.
This heartwarming gesture shows how our leaders are trying to make a difference to society. Such initiatives can inspire people to come forward and seek help for their issues, and we need more such acts of kindness to build a better world.
