Indore is all set to mark the International Yoga Day with several programmes planned across the city. The main event will be held at Lalbagh Palace grounds on Wednesday, June 23, and will start at 7 am. The event is being organised by the district administration and district Ayush department with the help of several organizations, including the Ramakrishna Mission, Heartfulness Institute, Parmanand Yoga Institute, Indian Red Cross Society, and more.
Tourism and culture minister Usha Thakur, mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, MLA Malini Gaud, public representatives, officers, employees, and youths are expected to attend the event. The programme will also feature a broadcast of messages by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
This year’s International Yoga Day theme is ‘Har Dil Dhyan, Har Din Dhyan,’ which has been set by the Union ministry of culture. As part of the theme, Heartfulness Institute, along with Jan-Abhiyan Parishad, has started the Ekatm Abhiyan campaign to promote yoga for better spiritual and mental health among villagers. The campaign aims to conduct at least three sessions of yoga and meditation at the village level.
To participate in the International Yoga Day programme, people are advised to register on the website https://yogmahotsavmp.in. After joining the programme, participants will be issued e-certificates for participation. The AYUSH department has also signed an MoU with various institutes to promote yoga across the region.
Efforts are being made by voluntary organisations to conduct multiple sessions of yoga and meditation at the village level to promote yoga for better health. With the help of these programmes, Indore aims to create awareness of the importance of yoga and promote better health practices among residents.
