A man dressed as the Grinch crashed into a business in Exeter, New Hampshire, on Christmas Day, causing a stir in the local community. The incident occurred at 66 Newfields Road, where the Exeter Police Department and Exeter Fire Department promptly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a silver Honda CRV on the front lawn of the Word Barn, with the driver still inside, donning a full Grinch costume. The individual behind the costume was identified as 31-year-old Jon C. Williamson.
According to reports, Williamson had been traveling south on Newfields Road when he became distracted by a curve, resulting in him veering off the roadway. His vehicle collided with a mailbox, a sign at the Word Barn, and several lights in the front of the establishment.
Exeter Fire Department assessed Williamson’s condition and ultimately transported him to the hospital for further evaluation. Initially, Williamson denied having sustained any injuries at the scene; however, his car sustained notable damage to the front.
Exeter Police Chief Stephan Poulin described the incident as a unique situation and noted that it was unexpected to encounter a driver dressed as the Grinch. Poulin acknowledged the timing of the episode, commenting, it was Christmas night, so not entirely outside the realm of possibility. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
