In a busy holiday season for the Annapolis Police, multiple incidents of home invasions, shootings, and thefts have kept them on their toes. Responding to a series of criminal activities, officers have been working tirelessly to maintain law and order in the city. Here’s a rundown of the publicly released information provided by the Annapolis Police.
One of the incidents involved a 43-year-old man who was arrested for second-degree burglary after being found in possession of stolen fishing rods. The man had unlawfully entered the Annapolis Yacht Club and was apprehended by the police. Charges were filed, and the stolen property was returned to its rightful owner.
Another assault case was reported at the unit block of Annapolis Street, where two co-workers had a physical altercation. Though no significant injuries were sustained, charges were applied for, and a warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest.
Reports of shots fired were received from two separate locations, namely the 100 block of Rosecrest Drive and the Hunt Meadow Community. Despite the police response, no evidence or victims were found at the scene.
A troubling incident of home invasion and attempted robbery took place on President Street, where a 49-year-old woman assaulted a victim and forcefully tried to remove a silver chain from her neck. The same suspect returned the following day, forcibly entered the residence, assaulted the victim again, and stole miscellaneous Christmas gifts. However, the police promptly apprehended the suspect, who now faces multiple charges.
In addition to these crimes, thefts from vehicles were also reported. In one instance on Hilltop Lane, an unknown person entered an unsecured vehicle and stole a wallet and a Social Security card. Meanwhile, the theft of license plates from a BMW was reported on Chester Avenue, and another incident on Farragut Court involved unknown subjects rummaging through a vehicle’s center console.
More alarming were the cases of shootings that occurred on Madison Street. Despite the presence of shell casings and a crime scene, no victims were found. However, an adult female sustained minor injuries due to shattered glass from a vehicle struck by gunfire. The police have detained one juvenile suspect, and further investigations are underway.
An aggravated assault incident on Copeland Street involved a masked subject assaulting a victim and threatening him with a handgun. The victim managed to flee the scene and sought medical attention.
Other incidents reported include theft from a store on Sixth Street and additional thefts on Bay Ridge Road involving stolen car chargers and a stolen license plate.
As the Annapolis Police continue to investigate these cases, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of the community during this holiday period.
