Army Chief Orders Offensive Against Valley Terrorists Following Targeted Attack

General Manoj Pande, the Army chief, has ordered an offensive operation against terrorists hiding in the Valley in response to a targeted attack in the Poonch district. This attack resulted in the tragic deaths of four soldiers. Combing operations and aerial surveillance have been ongoing in the forest areas of Dera Ki Gali and Bafliyaz for the past seven days. Additionally, mobile internet services have been suspended for the fourth consecutive day.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit the Rajouri-Poonch sector on Wednesday. During his visit, he plans to meet with on-duty soldiers in the international border area, interact with civilians affected by the recent terrorist attacks, and chair a security review meeting at the White Knight Corps Headquarters in Jammu. He will also engage in discussions with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Earlier, Army chief General Manoj Pande chaired a crucial security review meeting at the White Knight Corps Headquarters in Nagrota, Jammu. Subsequently, he visited the disturbed areas. To address the civilian deaths reported in Poonch, a Brigadier-level officer has been relieved of duty, and an internal inquiry has been launched by the Army. Disciplinary action is being taken against some officers, and postings are being adjusted considering the allegations of custodial torture made by the families of the deceased.

The People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), reportedly affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, has claimed responsibility for the attack that occurred last week. Disturbingly, the terrorists shared images from the attack site on social media, showcasing the utilization of sophisticated US-made M4 carbine assault rifles.

The Army’s decision to launch an offensive against the Valley terrorists demonstrates its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its personnel and civilians residing in the region. The combing operations and aerial surveillance signify a proactive approach to dismantling the terrorists’ hideouts and containing their activities.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to the Rajouri-Poonch sector underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the situation promptly. By interacting with soldiers and civilians directly affected by the attacks, the Minister aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of the ground reality. Additionally, the security review meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will contribute to formulating effective strategies to combat terrorism in the region.

The Army’s response to the civilian deaths reported in Poonch showcases its commitment to transparency and accountability. The removal of a Brigadier-level officer and the initiation of an internal inquiry demonstrate a firm stance against any unethical behavior. The Army is determined to take appropriate disciplinary action and address the families’ concerns regarding alleged custodial torture.

The claim by the People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), with reported links to Jaish-e-Mohammed, sheds light on the operating networks of these terrorist organizations. The use of advanced weaponry signifies the need for heightened vigilance and security measures.

As the offensive against Valley terrorists continues, the Army’s efforts, in coordination with local commanders, aim to dismantle their hideouts and neutralize their activities. The suspension of mobile internet services highlights the importance of communication restrictions to ensure operational security.

The Army chief’s directive and the ongoing operations illustrate a resolute determination to combat terrorism in the Valley. The government’s commitment, highlighted by the Defence Minister’s visit, reassures the soldiers and civilians affected by these attacks that their safety and well-being are of paramount importance.

In these challenging times, it is crucial to remain vigilant and united in the face of terrorism. The Army’s offensive and the government’s proactive response seek to restore peace and stability to the Valley, safeguarding the lives of its brave soldiers and innocent civilians alike.
