A Tripura University assistant professor has been accused of molesting a student during a viva examination on Monday. The incident allegedly occurred during a Philosophy exam, in which the victim was a candidate. Sources report that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is demanding strict action against Bhupesh Debbarma, the department assistant professor. The victim’s family has filed an FIR with the Amtali Police Station, alleging that Debbarma asked sexual questions during the exam and threatened the victim. Reports suggest the student was hospitalized due to trauma. An official of the university said that they were informed by the student that she was misbehaved with and that strict action would be taken against the assistant professor. The incident has sparked condemnation and protests.
