Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is hosting a free and exciting event named Harbour Chill Carnival for five consecutive weekends starting from July 8. The fun-filled carnival will take place along the Wan Chai harbourfront, where the public can enjoy an array of street performances, music shows, and X-game performances while taking in the beauty of Victoria Harbour.

Dane Cheng, HKTB Executive Director, expressed his excitement and revealed that the Harbour Chill Carnival is part of the ‘Happy Hong Kong’ campaign. He further stated that the carnival would bring together a diverse mix of entertainment, including pop culture, sports, music, and street performances.

The Harbour Chill Carnival would be held over ten days at five weekends and will cover an area of over 30,000 square meters at the Water Sports and Recreation Precinct, HarbourChill, Wan Chai, and Wan Chai Temporary Promenade. There will be several exciting themes such as European-inspired acrobatics and juggling, dynamic and passionate Samba drumming, time-honored kung fu and diabolo performances, and an attractively lit hula hoop show by former Australian artistic gymnastics champions.

The carnival will also feature local, Mainland and Japanese BMX and skateboarders, including Hong Kong’s No.1 skateboarder Chun Chai Luk Chun-yin, who will showcase their deft tricks. With breakdancing being added to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games programme, the Harbour Chill Carnival will also have top-notch local break-dancers and street dancers.

Music lovers can enjoy 20 music shows on a water stage, presenting a sensory feast with the world-renowned view of Victoria Harbour. The five-weekend music shows are themed Asia Power, Fresh Finds, Indie Rocks, Cantopop Hits, and DJ Nights, showcasing a wide range of music from a new generation of musicians from Hong Kong, Mainland, Taiwan, and overseas. The line-up features Kelly Chen, Jay Fung, Ivana Wong, Tyson Yoshi, Ng Lam-fung, Lolly Talk, Project Ace, Queena Cui, Hush, YELLOW, TYTAN, Reddy, and many more!

It’s been reported that 80 percent of the audience will be members of the local public, and the seating arrangements will not be pre-assigned at the venue. Tickets will be distributed free of charge on the HKTB’s e-platform. Each user can get tickets for a max of two sessions (two tickets per session) at the same time.

A Symphony of Lights will be staged at 8 p.m. every night with enhanced lighting effects. During the Harbour Chill Carnival, Victoria Harbour will host a waterfront pyrotechnic edition of the multimedia show, lighting up the harbor for a vibrant summer scene!
