India Records Lowest Number of Fresh COVID-19 Cases Since March 2020 with 36 New Infections

India has recorded its lowest number of daily COVID-19 cases since March 2020, with just 36 new cases reported nationwide. The active caseload also dropped to 1,844 as the country’s recovery rate climbed to 98.81%. There have been 5.31 lakh fatalities due to the virus in India, with a total of 4.49 crore cases registered. The case fatality rate is at 1.18%. So far, 220.66 crore vaccine doses have been administered as part of India’s vaccination drive. Despite the dip in cases, vigilance is still necessary, as the threat of a third wave looms over the country.
