On Tuesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi set off on a state visit to the United States and Egypt. His invitation to Washington by President Joe Biden, he said, is a reflection of the vigour and vitality of the partnership between our democracies. Modi explained that India-US ties are multifaceted, with deepening engagements across sectors. He added that during his visit, he will take the opportunity to consolidate bilateral cooperation as well as plurilateral forums.
Modi outlined various aspects of India-US engagement, including the close collaboration in science and technology, education, health, and defence and security fields. He stated that India-US collaboration on critical and emerging technologies has added new dimensions to defence industrial cooperation, space, telecoms, quantum, Artificial Intelligence, and biotech sectors. The two countries are also collaborating to further their shared vision of a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
Modi expressed confidence that his visit will reinforce India-US ties based on shared values of democracy, diversity, and freedom. Together, he said, the two countries stand stronger in meeting shared global challenges. The Prime Minister also plans to visit Egypt to impart further momentum to their civilizational and multi-faceted partnership.
