George Clooney has made it clear that he won’t be reprising his role as Batman anytime soon. The actor, known for his charismatic performances, revealed his thoughts during the LA premiere of his latest movie, The Boys in the Boat. When asked about the possibility of donning the Batsuit again, Clooney humorously replied that it would require an enormous amount of effort to get back in shape.
I don’t think there’s enough drugs in the world for me to go back there, he joked.
Clooney did, however, make a cameo as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming film The Flash. When questioned about his decision to return to the iconic role, the Ocean’s Eleven star revealed that there had been a significant demand from fans.
There was such a clamor for me to come back as [Batman], as you know, he shared.
In a Q&A session held in New York City in October 2021, Clooney spoke candidly about his view of himself as a superhero in recent years. Reflecting on his previous portrayal of Batman in Batman & Robin, he admitted to not feeling like superhero material.
I did one superhero movie and I (expletive) it up so bad they won’t let me near the set, he confessed.
Clooney also revealed that he wouldn’t allow his wife, Amal Clooney, or their children to watch Batman & Robin. He explained that it was important for him to maintain their respect and shared a humorous anecdote about his young child’s criticism of the film.
There are certain films I just go, ‘I want my wife to have some respect for me,’ he said, adding, It’s bad when your four-year-old kid goes, ‘This sucks’. That could be painful.
George Clooney’s decision not to reprise his Batman role showcases his personal reflection on the character and the impact it had on his career. While fans may be disappointed, Clooney’s dedication to maintaining his family’s admiration is evident. As the charismatic actor continues to explore new roles and captivate audiences, his portrayal of Batman remains a memorable part of his diverse filmography.
