A man is threatening to take Wickes to court after his new kitchen has been left incomplete for nearly a year.

Minh Nguyen paid around £15,000 for his new kitchen from the home retailer with work beginning in February. However, work stalled and his kitchen has been left without tiling and half-completed for ten months.

Minh, 49, called the way Wickes has been treating him ridiculous, adding that he wanted his money back from the company.

Wickes has apologised and said the remaining work was being assessed.

Minh, a structural engineer from Steyning, told The Argus: It’s just rubbish, we keep getting fobbed off. I just wanted a completed kitchen.

We have had to move part of our kitchen into our living room. It’s not a very good standard.

If they are not doing anything about it I want my money back. The next step is to take them to court.

Minh said he paid for his kitchen in full in November 2022, with work beginning in February. However, the work was stopped six days later after he realised that the wrong sink had been installed.

Since February, the kitchen has been without any tiles as well as having bowing skirting boards and issues with an installed fridge-freezer.

He added that he had tried to contact the Wickes customer service team but had been ignored since November of this year.

Minh has since sent a letter to Wickes chief executive David Wood threatening to take the company to court to recoup the cost of the kitchen.

A Wickes spokeswoman apologised for Minh’s experience adding that they were in contact to discuss the installation.

She said: We are very sorry to hear about Mr Nguyen’s experience as we always aim to deliver a high standard of customer service and satisfaction.

An installer is due to assess the remaining work this week and our Customer Relations Team is in contact with Mr Nguyen to confirm a date to complete the installation.

A designated member of the team will remain in contact until the issue is fully resolved.
