Sendhwa, Madhya Pradesh – In an effort to curb noise pollution, the district collector of Barwani, Dr Rahul Fating, has instructed religious heads and citizens to strictly adhere to the prescribed noise standards set by the Madhya Pradesh government. A meeting was recently organized under the guidance of Dr Fating and SP Puneet Gehlot, wherein caretakers of religious places and religious heads were briefed about the regulations regarding the use of loudspeakers.

The authorities emphasized that during the day, the sound frequency should not exceed 50 decibels, while at night, it should remain below 40 decibels in silent areas. Moreover, in residential areas, the permissible limit is 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night. Similarly, in commercial areas, the noise should not exceed 65 decibels during the day and 55 decibels at night. For industrial areas, the acceptable sound frequency is set at 75 decibels during the day and 70 decibels at night.

To comply with these guidelines, it was requested during the meeting that all sound-amplifying devices in temples and mosques, including Maulana Azad Chowk Mosque, Tagore Badi Mosque, Santoshi Mata Mandir Tagore Badi, Jogwada Road Mosque, and Chhoti Masjid, be removed if they exceed the prescribed noise levels.

Following the instructions, the religious heads and common people of the area voluntarily removed the sound amplifiers installed at their respective places of worship. This decision has been well-received by the residents, who have experienced an increase in noise pollution. It is particularly beneficial for the elderly, students, and sick individuals.

The government’s decision to enforce noise standards has been welcomed by the residents. Excessive noise can lead to various health issues and disturb the peace of the community. This step will ensure a quieter and more peaceful environment, said SDOP Kamal Chauhan, appreciating the administration’s efforts.

Noise pollution has become a growing concern in urban areas, affecting the general well-being and causing disturbances particularly during religious events and festivals. By imposing stricter regulations, the government aims to strike a balance between religious practices and maintaining the tranquility of the region.

It is essential for religious institutions and citizens to understand and respect the prescribed noise limits to foster a peaceful coexistence and improve the overall quality of life. The authorities will continue to monitor compliance with the guidelines to ensure a noise-free environment for all.

In conclusion, the Madhya Pradesh government’s call to adhere to noise standards has been met with positive responses from the community. The meeting held under the guidance of Dr Rahul Fating and SP Puneet Gehlot served as a platform to educate and encourage religious heads and citizens to take responsibility for reducing noise pollution. By working together, the residents of Barwani can create a more serene and harmonious environment for everyone.
