Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to identify the root causes of water contamination and come up with a comprehensive plan to provide a permanent solution for the affected areas. During a high-level review meeting with DJB officials, Kejriwal emphasised the need for a permanent resolution of complaints regarding contaminated water, directing the DJB to expedite the process of improving the quality of water. He gave strict instructions to promptly replace any pipes causing the problem of contaminated water while gathering information from local legislators. Kejriwal also directed the DJB to ensure the clean water obtained from all sewage treatment plants is usable. He reviewed the initiatives related to installing Reverse Osmosis plants in JJ (Jhuggi-Jhopri) colonies and asked DJB to present a detailed plan with a timeline and discuss the required arrangements if the water needs to be taken to any reservoir. The plan should also detail the pipeline infrastructure required.
