Uttar Pradesh bags Achiever States status in LEADS Survey Report 2023
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh has once again secured the prestigious ‘Achiever States’ status in the LEADS Survey Report 2023, an assessment of logistics ease across different states. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recognized Uttar Pradesh as an ‘achiever’ in the landlocked states category for the second consecutive year. The LEADS report evaluates the level of multimodal connectivity, improvements in logistics efficiency, and the seamless movement of people and goods.
LEADS, an indigenous data-driven index, measures logistics infrastructure, services, and human resources across all 36 states and union territories in India. The report follows international standards like the Logistics Performance Index and classifies states into four categories: achievers, fast-movers, coastal states aspiring for improvement, landlocked states, northeastern states, and union territories.
Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana, and Punjab have also been listed as achievers in the landlocked states category. Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka have achieved the same status in the coastal states category. In the northeastern category, Assam, Sikkim, and Tripura have been recognized as achievers, while Chandigarh and Delhi make up the union territories category.
Other states have also been categorized accordingly. Kerala and Maharashtra are designated as ‘Fast Movers’ in the coastal category, with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand sharing the same status in the landlocked category. Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland represent the northeastern category, while Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry fall under the union territories category.
Goa, Odisha, and West Bengal aspire to improve their logistics progress in the coastal category, whereas Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jharkhand aim for better logistics in the landlocked category. Manipur, Meghalaya, and Mizoram seek improvements in the northeastern category, while Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh aspire for better logistics as union territories.
This recognition highlights Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to enhancing logistics infrastructure and services, promoting ease of doing business, and attracting investments. The state’s consistent performance demonstrates its efforts in ensuring efficient logistics connectivity and facilitating the movement of goods and people.
The LEADS Survey Report plays a crucial role in assessing logistics efficiency and guiding policymakers in formulating strategies to enhance logistics infrastructure and ease of doing business. With Uttar Pradesh securing the ‘Achiever States’ status for the second consecutive year, it is evident that the state is dedicated to achieving excellence in logistics and contributing to overall economic growth.
