Andhra Cabinet Approves Second Phase of Jagananna Arogya Suraksha, Enhances Free Medical Treatment to Rs 25 Lakh, India

The Andhra cabinet, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has approved the launch of the second phase of Jagananna Arogya Suraksha from January 1. Under this scheme, free medical treatment under YSR Aarogyasri has been enhanced to Rs 25 lakh, benefiting all individuals with an annual income of up to Rs 5 lakh. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated that this initiative aims to ensure that 90% of families in Andhra Pradesh receive the benefits. To mark the launch, the Chief Minister will unveil the enhanced Aarogyasri scheme and distribute new Aarogyasri cards on December 18. The cabinet has also approved several other measures, including the payment of Rs 300 for re-consultation visits, door delivery of WHO standard medicines, and the introduction of a dedicated Aarogyasri App. In addition, the monthly social pension will be increased from Rs 2750 to Rs 3000 from January 1. The state will distribute Rs 6394 crores towards the fourth and final tranche of YSR Asara from Jan 10 to 23 and YSR Cheyuta to beneficiaries from January 29 to February 10. The ‘YSR Aarogyasri’ scheme was initially launched in January 2020, covering treatment costs for 2,059 ailments. The state government increased the procedures available under the scheme, ensuring that more individuals can access quality healthcare. With these latest developments, Andhra Pradesh continues to prioritize the health and well-being of its citizens.
