Ryanair, Europe’s leading low-cost airline, is set to launch 11 domestic flights in Morocco in the summer of 2024, as part of its ambitious plan to double its passengers to and from the country by 2027. The airline aims to connect nine cities in Morocco, including Agadir, Errachidia, Essaouira, Fez, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Oujda, Tangier, and Tetouan, according to the Ministry of Tourism. Additionally, Ryanair intends to expand its reach by introducing 24 new destinations, bridging Morocco with Spain, Germany, France, the Netherlands, the UK, Italy, Portugal, and Sweden.
To cater to the increased domestic flights, Ryanair will allocate 14 aircraft specifically for operations within Morocco. The airline plans to establish a new hub in Tangier, in addition to its existing hubs in Agadir, Fez, and Marrakech. This move emphasizes Ryanair’s commitment to providing convenient and affordable travel options for both domestic and international passengers in Morocco.
Meanwhile, Jet Luxe, a private jet management company, has announced the opening of a new office in Morocco, as part of its expansion strategy in the African market. Yassine el Moussi, Chief Business Officer at Jet Luxe, emphasized the significance of this expansion, citing Morocco’s role as a vital hub connecting Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. El Moussi expressed optimism about Africa’s potential for tremendous growth in the coming years, particularly with Morocco set to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Jet Luxe aims to redefine luxury travel in Africa and make it more accessible to a broader range of travelers.
In line with Morocco’s aspirations to attract 17 million tourists by 2026, the country has been investing in enhancing air and rail travel between cities. The preparations for the 2030 World Cup have served as a catalyst for infrastructure development. Consequently, the use of private jets in Morocco has been steadily increasing, with private aviation hubs becoming commonplace, such as the one in Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca.
As the future of Moroccan tourism appears promising, Ryanair’s plans to expand its domestic flights, along with Jet Luxe’s presence and commitment to redefining luxury travel, indicate the growing importance of Morocco’s strategic location and the increasing demand for travel to and within the country. With these developments, Morocco is well-positioned to attract more visitors, offering a blend of affordable travel options and luxurious experiences, further solidifying its status as a sought-after destination in the region.
