BigBear.ai has been awarded a $17.9 million extension on Phase 2 of the U.S. Army GFIM OTA (Other Transaction Agreement), which will enhance the data layer and critical functionality of the Global Force Information Management (GFIM) system. As a leading provider of AI-powered decision intelligence and cyber-engineering solutions, BigBear.ai will continue as the prime contractor for this system transformation project.
The extension comes as a result of the successful delivery and acceptance of work completed during Phase 1 and Phase 2. It emphasizes the progress made in consolidating 15 legacy systems into a modern enterprise intelligent automation platform that aligns with the Secretary of the Army’s vision for a data-centric force.
The focus of the extended work will be on further enhancing the data layer, developing the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in line with Army priorities, and ensuring the secure and accredited operation of all systems within the IL5/IL6 cARMY Cloud environment.
BigBear.ai’s deep understanding of the Army Force Management process, combined with decades of experience in agile technology solutions, makes the company an essential partner in the evolution of the GFIM system. This extension reflects the commitment of both parties to achieving a state-of-the-art platform that meets the Army’s highest standards of data security and operational effectiveness.
During the initial Phase 2 period, BigBear.ai laid the groundwork for a modernized force structure system. The team successfully navigated the complexities of the project’s requirements, and this extension represents a continuation of that partnership as the project moves towards operationalizing the prototype within the cARMY cloud. This milestone is a pivotal step in the Army’s Cloud Plan 2022.
The GFIM system is set to become a cornerstone of the Army’s data-driven approach, said a GFIM Capabilities Management Officer. The advancements in the data layer and the progress towards accreditation in the cARMY environment will significantly enhance the Army’s operational readiness and system security.
The extension follows a series of successful milestones, including a comprehensive User Acceptance Testing Session that marked the transition to the next phase of development. With this contract extension, BigBear.ai will continue to drive the GFIM system towards the Army’s goal of creating a more integrated, efficient, and effective force.
