Apple is set to simplify its iPad lineup by launching new models in March 2024, including a refreshed MacBook Air. The move comes as Apple aims to reduce confusion and differentiate between its iPad Pro and iPad Air models. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple plans to make the iPad Pro more distinct from the iPad Air by introducing major changes such as an OLED screen, updated design, M3 chip, and a revamped Magic Keyboard attachment. The iPad Air will come in 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch configurations, while the Pro will be available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes.
Gurman notes that the iPad Air will be more powerful than the 10th-generation iPad, featuring a superior M2 processor and two screen sizes. Both the iPad Air and iPad Pro are expected to launch in March, with the 11th-generation iPad replacing the ninth-generation model. Gurman also mentions that the iPad mini will receive a refresh at a later date, along with a faster processor.
In addition to the iPad lineup, Apple plans to refresh the MacBook Air with new models codenamed J613 and J615. These models will be equipped with the new M3 processor while maintaining similar specifications to the older M2 models. The exact launch timeline for the refreshed baseline iPad and iPad mini has not been revealed.
