Two individuals have been arrested in Fairmont, West Virginia, after drugs and guns were found within reach of a child. Monique Parks, 34, and Vincent Dudley, 32, were taken into custody after an altercation between the two while a 7-year-old child was present. Parks had allegedly instructed the child to grab her gun and call the police. When officers arrived at the residence, they detected the strong odor of marijuana, prompting them to enter alongside Child Protective Services workers. During a search of the home, police discovered electronic scales with marijuana residue, 3 ounces of marijuana, and psilocybin mushrooms on a nightstand where the child’s clothing was also stored. They also found a loaded Glock 43 and magazines of marijuana in close proximity to the child’s toys. Parks and Dudley have been charged with child neglect and are currently being held in North Central Regional Jail. The incident highlights the potential danger posed when illegal substances and firearms are accessible to children. The child has been placed in protective custody while the investigation continues.
