Munster Rugby is eagerly anticipating its upcoming Champions Cup draw. The announcement will take place on Wednesday, at Tottenham Hotspur football club. Given Munster’s recent win in the United Rugby Championship, they will be among the top-seeded teams alongside either Leinster, La Rochelle, or Toulouse. Saracens is also among the top-seeded competitors. However, if La Rochelle beats Toulouse in today’s Top 14 decider, runners-up Leinster will also become a top-seeded team.
According to the key principles of the Champions Cup draw, each pool will contain two clubs from each of the leagues, while clubs from the same URC Shield cannot be in the same pool. Therefore, the Irish qualifiers – Munster Rugby, Leinster Rugby, Ulster Rugby, and Connacht Rugby – will each be drawn or allocated into separate pools. The DHL Stormers and the Vodacom Bulls from South Africa will also not be in the same pool.
There will also be no matches between clubs from the same league. As a result, each club will play four matches against four different clubs, who are not from the same league either home or away during the pool stage, to create the fixtures.
The following teams are participants in the competition: TOP 14 – Stade Rochelais, Stade Toulousain, Racing 92, Union Bordeaux-Bègles, Lyon, Stade Francais Paris, RC Toulon, and Aviron Bayonnais. GALLAGHER PREMIERSHIP – Saracens, Sale Sharks, Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints, Harlequins, Exeter Chiefs, Bath Rugby, and Bristol Bears. BKT UNITED RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP – Munster Rugby, DHL Stormers, Leinster Rugby, Ulster Rugby, Glasgow Warriors, Vodacom Bulls, Connacht Rugby, and Cardiff Rugby.
The draw is highly anticipated among rugby fans, and everyone is eager to see how the pools will be set up for the upcoming competition. The teams are excited to know their opponents, as they prepare to compete in one of the most prestigious competitions in the rugby world. Fans will be waiting with bated breath to see what their favorite teams have in store for them this season.
