Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Nigeria, has sponsored 200 Muslim pilgrims for the 2023 Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, breaking a 10-year dry spell. The Governor congratulated the pilgrims and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the state and behave well throughout their travels and stay. The Governor appreciated the Muslim community’s cooperation in the state and reassured them of continued peaceful coexistence. The Hajj beneficiaries lauded the Governor for his support and prayed for him to continue as the Governor of the state for a second term. They also said that it had been a decade since any administration sponsored the hajj pilgrimage. The event took place at the Government House exco chambers in Owerri. The Governor’s gesture shows his commitment to making life meaningful to all in his state regardless of religion.
