New Delhi, Dec 3 – The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) reviewed the preparation for cyclone ‘Michaung’ as the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed 21 teams in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry. In addition, eight teams were kept in reserve for the impending cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, expected to hit parts of southern India. The NCMC, chaired by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, met to evaluate the readiness of state governments and central ministries for the approaching cyclonic storm. The Director-General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) provided updates on the current status of cyclone ‘Michaung’.

With the intensification of cyclone ‘Michaung’ in the Bay of Bengal, the NDRF swiftly mobilized its teams to ensure the safety and prompt response to the upcoming natural disaster. Their strategic placement in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry, as well as the reserved teams, aims to mitigate the potential damages and provide timely assistance in affected regions.

During the NCMC meeting, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba stressed the importance of coordination and preparedness among all stakeholders. The committee aimed to ensure that state governments and central ministries were equipped to handle the cyclone’s impact effectively. With 21 NDRF teams on the ground and additional teams ready as backup, the authorities are gearing up to face the challenges that lie ahead.

Speaking about the preparations, the Director-General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) provided insights into the current situation. Cyclone ‘Michaung’ has gained strength in the Bay of Bengal and is expected to make landfall in parts of southern India, the director-general said. We are closely monitoring its trajectory and intensity to provide accurate forecasts and warnings. Our teams are working round the clock to ensure the safety of the population in the affected regions.

The impending cyclone has triggered a sense of urgency among the government and rescue agencies to reinforce disaster management strategies. The focus lies in evacuating vulnerable areas, providing adequate relief measures, and minimizing any potential loss of life. The NCMC meeting emphasized the need for effective communication between all stakeholders, including state governments, central ministries, and the public, to ensure necessary precautions are taken and timely assistance is provided.

The approaching cyclone has raised concerns among the residents of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry, who have endured the devastation caused by previous cyclones. The state governments, in collaboration with the NDRF and other relevant agencies, are working tirelessly to create awareness and facilitate the evacuation of people residing in high-risk areas. The priority remains the safety and well-being of the citizens.

As the cyclone ‘Michaung’ gains momentum, it is imperative for the public to stay updated on weather advisories and follow the instructions issued by authorities. Precautionary measures such as securing loose objects, stocking essential supplies, and relocating to designated shelters, if required, should be taken to ensure personal safety.

In conclusion, as cyclone ‘Michaung’ looms over the Bay of Bengal, the NCMC has taken proactive measures to mobilize rescue teams and review the preparedness of state governments and central ministries. The primary objective is to safeguard the vulnerable population and reduce the impact of the cyclonic storm on the southern regions of India. The NDRF’s swift response and the continuous monitoring of the IMD provide hope as the nation braces itself to face the forthcoming natural disaster.
