Ranbir Kapoor: ‘Could Recall Sweet Memories of My Father While Performing with Anil Kapoor in Animal’
Actor Ranbir Kapoor revealed that his role as a son to Anil Kapoor’s character in the movie Animal brought back cherished memories of his late father, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed film also stars Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri. Currently running in cinemas, Animal is set to be released on Friday in multiple languages.
Kapoor, who made his film debut opposite Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor in 2007’s Saawariya, expressed his gratitude to the veteran actor for taking on the role of his father on screen. He thanked Kapoor for their warm relationship throughout the years and mentioned how he often saw similarities between Kapoor and his own father.
I see a lot of my father in him, because they come from similar generations, they have similar thinking patterns. While performing with him, there were a lot of sweet memories that I could recall, Kapoor said during the film’s promotional event.
He also spoke about Kapoor’s promise to play his father in a film, which he fulfilled through Animal. Kapoor humorously recalled Kapoor’s words when he was making his debut with Sonam Kapoor, Main kisi ka baap nahi banoonga, lekin jab tu film leke aayega main tera baap banoonga.
Animal explores a violent world and delves into the troubled relationship between Kapoor’s character, Arjun Singh, and his father Balbir Singh, played by Anil Kapoor. Reflecting on the father-son dynamic in the film, Kapoor drew parallels with his own relationship with his father, describing it as a combination of love, respect, and fear.
The relationship that I shared with my father, like most of the father-son relationships in India… There’s a bit of distance, a bit of fear but there’s also love and respect. ‘Animal’ is about seeing a father-son relationship through an obsessed son, so it is very different from what I probably shared in real life, Kapoor explained.
Co-star Bobby Deol, who portrays the antagonist in Animal, expressed his anticipation for the film’s release. Deol described the project as special to him and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with the talented cast.
Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Geetanjali, the wife of Kapoor’s character in the film, shared her nervousness about the release. She expressed the incredible experience of watching movies on the big screen and emphasized the significance of cinemas in the entertainment industry.
