Former Pakistan Cricket Captain, Rashid Latif, has expressed his thoughts about the Asia Cup. According to Latif, the Asia Cup is a win-win situation for both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The tournament will be held under the recently approved hybrid model in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 31 to September 17, 2023.
Latif mentioned that Jay Shah, who is the BCCI Secretary and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief, gained recognition for his efforts after organizing the tournament. Meanwhile, PCB wanted to save face amidst the current challenges. According to Latif, this is a typical scenario, where both parties can benefit from this event.
Latif labeled Sri Lanka as a significant beneficiary in this scenario since the majority of the matches will be held in the Island nation. Afghanistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh will receive their respective participating fees during the tournament.
Pakistan is happy, India is happy, and Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are also delighted, added Latif.
Overall, it seems that the Asia Cup is shaping up to be a successful and beneficial event for all parties involved.
